Moody Bridal Editorial on the Irish Coast
We all hope for sunny days when we shoot an editorial. Or maybe not, I mean it depends on the time of day we plan to shoot and the location and whether you like diffused light or straight up golden sunshine. I personally usually hope to shoot 2 hours before sunset with the sky full of scattered puffy clouds catching the quickly setting sun and turning pink and violet and orange. But that doesn’t always work out. And then, there are times when the mood wouldn’t be right with the sun shining. And in those times, you kind of hope for rain. This was one of those times. I was so excited to be doing an editorial with the talented Lindsay from House of Hannah Events, and it just so happened that the weather couldn’t make up it’s mind that day. It was drizzling, then the sun would peek out, then it would pour down rain. And it was perfect. We got some stunning views when the rain stopped, we got the perfect Irish cozy, moody goodness when it drizzled and poured. And since we were shooting in the middle of the day, we ended up with perfectly soft, diffused light that really took my breath away. The rain is so romantic, especially when you get to shoot at a stunning, vine covered manor house in the fall, and especially when your gorgeous model knows how to play off the rain and give you the most Elizabeth Bennet caught in a storm vibes.
That mood was just the icing on the cake for this shoot. The colors of the table spoke to my entire wardrobe and my color language (is that even a thing?), the gowns, the styling, the team were all absolute perfection. This is one of my favorite bridal editorials to date. Even drawing one ounce of inspiration from this shoot for a wedding will take it up one more romantic notch.
