There is something magical that happens when you get to see a family having a moment of their life in their own home or doing something they love together. I love capturing these magical moments as quietly as possible, like a fly on the wall, for lack of any better phrase. Two clichés in one sentence, but I digress. Karolina and Michael welcomed their sweet son Luc into the world this summer, and I was lucky enough to have captured some pictures of them celebrating the pregnancy during their in home maternity session, styled and curated by Gather Design Company. I loved standing back, behind my camera, and watching them make homemade pancakes from scratch, having a simple morning together, and reading books that they had bought for Luc.
Getting the opportunity to attend Loom Curated, last September, was the experience of a lifetime. The method is organic and beautifully genuine, and I loved the process of shooting a scene unfolding in front of me that I had no control over. Not to mention shooting a real couple moving through a scene that was curated by Ginny Au was an absolute honor. There is something so natural and completely authentic about the way Ginny styles a room to make it feel exactly right for the subject being photographed.
This particular scene featured real life Seattle couple, Alex and Leah. Their simple, cuddly morning together made for the most serene moment. I could have stood there listening to the wind whispering through the long grass and watching them tenderly embrace each other, sip coffee, and take a breath of fresh air together for hours and been completely content.
